Participant-Driven Professional Development
Sunday, 11 Nov 2018, 8:00-16:00 @ University of Battambang. What is EdCamp? EdCamp is an innovative conference, more like an uncoference, that is designed to create a participant-driven, fun-filled day of professional development. The conference will consist of facilitators, instead of official presenters, who will lead the group discussions that arise in each of the day’s breakout sessions. Participants come to EdCamp with ideas about what they would like to learn and what they would like to share. It is the participants who decide what the day will look like.
How does EdCamp work? During the first hour, you will have time to meet other teachers over breakfast and coffee or tea. There will be an empty session board where you can post session topics that you want to learn about or share. Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend four sessions. The rule of the conference is to “vote with your feet.” If you do not like a session, you are free to walk out and attend another one. Except for one or two possible special sessions, there are no presenters, so you always have a voice in the discussion.
Why should I attend EdCamp? During EdCamp, you will be able to collaborate with fellow educators, brainstorm solutions to common education problems, have engaging group discussions, and gain ideas that you can immediately implement in the classroom. You will make professional connections and grow as a teacher. All registered participants will also receive certificates of attendance!
How should I prepare for EdCamp? To ensure your meals and certificate are prepared, please register by Nov 07, 2018 at https://goo.gl/forms/KLAzJ53sEfTE9BVF2 . If you cannot access the online registration form, please contact the English Teachers in Siem Reap Community of Practice at 077 58 58 64 or 093-58 58 64. The event is FREE! Come with ideas about what you would like to learn and what you would like to share. A laptop or tablet with wireless Internet would also be useful. See you at EdCamp Cambodia in Battambang!
