SHORT DESCRIPTION:

Ensuring sound quality assurance (QA) is essential for well-performing Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Introduced in many HE systems worldwide in the last twenty-thirty years, QA has become a key tool to make universities’ achievements and degrees visible and comparable.

In Cambodia, despite governmental and institutional willingness to enhance QA processes, major challenges remain and need to be addressed. Certainly, QA in Cambodian HEIs is still developing. Universities are at different stages of implementing a QA system and/or unit. Although new regulations state that all HEIs should have an internal QA system, not all of them have one in place yet. Cambodian HEIs are trying to follow national standards, but the need to establish a QA unit at the institutional level is still a major step left.

PROJECT IMPACT

  1. Enhanced awareness and culture of Quality Assurance in Cambodian HEIs
  2. Enhanced institutional capacities through trainings and upgrading infrastructure of QA Offices
  3. Improved QA practices through internal and external assessment
  4. QA Strategic plans developed for 2020 – 2023
